The following 8 pictures tell a story.

They reveal  personality, individuality and the era of periwinkles, hot rods and punk that changed the face of style forever.

Some are raw and all are real.

LOST IN THE 50'S TONIGHT

Get lost and maybe you'll find yourself.

Pin A Rose On It

   OH TI AMO DADDY-O.

Suit up. And then suit up some more. Multiple layers are the key to the suaveness and sophistication being oozed out of this outfit. Reminiscent of classic 50’s style Italian attire with clean cuts of cream, whites and tanned leather, I would like very much for this dapper gentleman to hail a taxi and take me for gelato.

With the flick of a comb coining a quiff, this look is a less dishevelled take on the Marc Jacobs 2011 fall collection, inspired by the militaristic and controversial World War II hero Michael (‘Burn Baby’) Burn.

This outfit is the epitome of all things debonair, topped off with bold statement glasses and a classic gold faced watch that tells me it’s time for this fine fella to catch the train back to fiftiesville.  Ciao Bello!!

Shingle With A Shimmy & A shake

ROCKIN’ MY ROCKABILLY.

Bringing the 50’s style back and rocking out with attitude like only a true pin up can, this is one doll that won’t be confined to the kitchen.

Rockabilly meets punk, this outfit is a reflection of the 50’s pin up era, encompassing a corset top, suspender belt and high waisted skirt. Mix it up with a little 20’s inspired feather bolero, top it off with lush ruby red lips and va-va-voom! Sandy and Danny’s rebellious love child is born, ready to cause mischief in kicks so wild they would make Elvis’ knees jitter.

And of course a special mention must go out to those wild, horn rimmed glasses. They make my heart beat just that little bit faster. Betty Page would be proud.

Spot With A Twist

   SWEET TREATS AND SMOKIN’ BEATS.

It’s so sweet it hurts my teeth! This kooky look doesn’t make an appearance around these parts a lot these days but hang in the diner long enough and rest assured, a pretty dolly will appear. Everything about this ensemble is reminiscent of the 1950’s, a niche that has been snatched up as the latest fashion for all vintage lovers. Specialty boutiques and vintage stores are the wave of the future (or is it, the past?) for this smokin’ hot look.
With this look, a step backwards is certainly a big step forward, particularly among the sub cultural periwinkle paraders and greasy grease monkeys. Black and red make this outfit pop, particularly when combined with the thin white belt and long pearls.
Aw shucks sugar, you’ve got me all dotty for spotty. Put a dime in the jukebox and let’s bop.

Maiden's Delight

SHARP STRIPES GOT ME FEELING ALRIGHT.

When the 1940’s zoot suits and bowties took a long awaited vacation, they arrived here. Revamped and ready to face the world with a slick yet funky edge, they shed their extra material, replacing it with suave stripes and sun so shiny it makes your eyes water.

Decked on the deck with rolled cuffs and brown loafers, the versatility of this ensemble lays in the bottom half of this outfit. Versatility aside, the horizontal stripes remain the shining staple stars, contrasting off one another in a blue-yellow fashion fight to the death.

Tommy Hilfiger showcased preppy style in the 2011 fall collection, which has definitely been the founding inspiration for this timeless holiday style. Croquet anyone?
